Tumakuru (formerly Tumkur) is the administrative headquarters of the district and a prominent educational, industrial, and spiritual hub in Karnataka. Home to the world-renowned Sri Siddaganga Mutt, it is known for providing free education, shelter, and food ('Dasoha') to tens of thousands of students. Located just 70 km from Bengaluru, it is recognized as a 'Smart City' and a major industrial node on the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor.
