Siddaganga Mutt

Siddaganga Mutt is a highly revered Veerashaiva spiritual and educational center located on a hillock in Tumakuru. Founded in the 15th century by Sri Gosala Siddeshwara Swamiji, the Mutt is globally recognized for its massive humanitarian work. Under the leadership of the late Dr. Sri Sri Sri Shivakumara Swamiji, affectionately known as the 'Walking God' (Nadedaduva Devaru) who lived to be 111 years old, the Mutt established schools that provide free education, food ('Trivida Dasoha' - food, shelter, and knowledge), and clothing to over 10,000 underprivileged children irrespective of religion or caste.

The system of Trivida Dasoha is a legendary service model, catering three meals a day to thousands of pilgrims and students who reside in the massive hostels. The atmosphere at the Mutt is charged with spiritual energy, especially during the daily prayer sessions where thousands of students chant Sanskrit shlokas in unison. The quiet, serene hills surrounding the Mutt offer a peaceful escape for spiritual seekers and tourists alike.

Visitors can witness the massive kitchen operations where giant steam cookers prepare ragi mudde (ragi balls), rice, and sambar on an industrial scale. The administrative efficiency of this institution is studied globally as a model of volunteer-driven service and selflessness. Walking through the campus, one feels a sense of humility and dedication to human service that is hard to find elsewhere.

Remove footwear at designated stands before entering the inner temple courtyard. Walking barefoot is mandatory to keep the premises pure.

Avoid bringing single-use plastic bags or bottles into the premises. Use public drinking water taps provided around the campus.

The kitchen serves free prasada to all. Only take what you can consume to respect the food donation ('Dasoha') culture.

Maintain silence near the prayer halls and school zones so as not to disturb the children studying or chanting.

Situated in Kyathsandra, 6 km East of Tumakuru Bus Stand. Direct auto-rickshaws, local city buses, and private cabs are readily available from the station.

October to March is ideal. Early morning prayers (6:00 AM) and evening sunset periods offer a serene spiritual experience.

Open from 5:00 AM to 8:30 PM. Free vegetarian lunch is served daily from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM, and dinner from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

Drinking water, clean restrooms, cloakrooms, and free vehicle parking are available for visitors.
