Yediyur Sri Siddhalingeshwara Temple

Yediyur Sri Siddhalingeshwara Temple is a highly revered Veerashaiva pilgrimage site containing the Samadhi (tomb) of Totada Siddhalinga Swamiji, a great 15th-century Lingayat saint who travelled widely to propagate the Shiva Sharana philosophy. The temple features a beautiful Dravidian style entrance, colorful murals depicting scenes from Lingayat folklore, and a gold-plated kalasa. The annual car festival (Jathre) held during Chaitra (March/April) attracts hundreds of thousands of devotees from across South India.

The temple operates as a massive spiritual powerhouse in Kunigal taluk, acting as the epicenter of Lingayat religious studies and social service. Its tall gopuram is visible from miles away, guiding pilgrims to the temple courtyard. The Shimsha river flows close to the temple, adding a calm natural element to the sacred space.

Inside the temple complex, devotees can offer prayers at the inner sanctum, participate in the distribution of holy ashes (vibhuti), and observe the traditional rituals performed with deep devotion. The temple's kitchen provides food to thousands daily, carrying forward the saint's legacy of feeding the hungry.

The major festival takes place during March/April, featuring a grand chariot procession that moves through the decorated town streets.

The temple administration runs guest rooms for pilgrims at nominal charges. Bookings can be made directly at the administrative office.
